Think about your customers, clients, or patients as members.
It will help you adopt a new way of thinking about how you serve them.
Customers think transactional.
Members think relational.
People who feel like they are a part of something want to engage with the group.
They comment on your posts.
They have higher loyalty.
They are more likely to share with their friends.
Members have higher engagement compared to customers.
Customers think cost.
Members think investment.
People who feel like they are a part of something invest in it.
They invest in your products and services.
They help you out when times are tough.
They attend your events.
Members invest in the long-term vision.
Customers think referrals.
Members think evangelize.
People who feel like they are a part of something can’t help but evangelize about it.
They tell people about you like it’s a no-brainer.
They splurge about how great you are.
They give you raving reviews.
Members don’t talk about you, they gush over you.
To clarify, I’m not saying to start a membership business.
I’m saying treat your customers like members.
