It’s often easier to retain current customers.

People never buy your product or service.
They always buy you.
So what makes your business… well, you?
- Is it your terrible dad humor?
- Is it your obnoxious optimism?
- Is it your obsession with dogs?
People gravitate towards authenticity
How can you make your business more personal?
What makes you different isn’t a weakness… it’s often your greatest strength.
I was recently at a sushi restaurant in Austin called Uchiko.
Throughout the meal, they would bring us “free” food.
”Here is our finest sea urchin, just for you fine people.”
”Here is our squid roll on the house.”
As a marketer, I recognized what was happening.
They were creating an experience and making us feel special.
Here’s the kicker.
Even though I knew exactly what was happening.
It STILL made me feel special and want to tell other people about it.
How can you create a 5-star experience for your customers?
- Send them your favorite supplement?
- Highlight them on your social media?
- Give them the keys to your Ferrari for a day?
People share experiences with their friends… give people a reason to share.
I’ve been doing a lot more dog sitting lately.
I’m actually watching a Frenchy as I write this email.
Training a dog is pretty basic.
Reward for good behavior and punish for bad behavior.
Humans don’t do as well with punishment.
But we do incredible with rewards.
How can you reward your customers for… being customers?!
- Offer a referral bonus
- Celebrate with them when they hit a goal
- Partner with a business that complements yours for a giveaway.
”We change best by feeling good… not by feeling bad”
-BJ Fogg
Take home point…
- Have a personality.
- Give people a reason to share.
- Reward your customers for good behavior.
Next week you’ll learn what it means to live large from a wellness coach.
